45 Min Volcano Heli Adventure

Tour ID: SAFH-31
Location: Hilo, Big Island
Duration: 45 minute Flight
Leaves from: Commuter Terminal - Hilo Airport, Hilo

On the Volcano Coast Safari 45 minute Flight Tour you'll be given the unique opportunity to see a few of Hawaii's finest and most incredible active volcanoes. We fly out from Hilo, Hawaii and tour the Big Island. Home to five volcanoes, the Big Island is 4,038 square miles and our flight shows it off in its entirety. It's here that the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park was established in 1916. See fiery hot magma, massive plumes of smoke, and lava eruptions all from a bird's eye view. It's a spectacular tour loaded with unforgettable memories that entice young and old.

We'll fly out in one of our top of the line helicopters. The tour can hold up to six passengers and each one will ride in comfort! Our helicopters have large spacious windows allowing an incredible viewing capacity. We have excellent experienced pilots who will treat you to a pleasant and enjoyable flight. To keep you and your loved ones free from worry, our pilots remain in contact with us on the ground throughout the entire flight. As you fly, you will be privileged to learn from our pilot as he shares with you all of his vast knowledge of the volcanoes, the island, and its inhabitants.

Now on to the outstanding sites! As you know, Hawaii is made up of several islands, most of which harbor one or more volcanoes. On this flight you will see many of them including the Kilauea Volcano. It's here that you'll see remarkable lava flows, a lava tree forest, and a black sand beach. The red hot lava flows over black molten rock reaching temperatures so hot that we can't take you too close. The forest has been through vicious cycles of growth and destruction leaving behind a fascinating bit of landscape. Magma forms the black sand beaches on the coast, making for very interesting pictures. Have your cameras ready because you won't want to miss the opportunity to take pictures of the Kilauea Caldera. Also on the tour you'll see the Halema'uma'u. It is here where the legend tells us that the Goddess of Fire and Volcanoes, Madame Pele rests. As the story enlightens us, she was chased from island to island until she decided to reside here. The lava vents here are said to be the way she expresses herself. Will she be in an angry mood during your tour? Hopefully she'll just be in a playful one.

Many of these views are only accessible by air. That is another reason why this tour is so unique and special. As mentioned before our helicopters are top of the line, fully equipped with large windows, spacious seats, and air conditioning. Video systems that capture your entire Volcano Coast Safari experience are available for purchase. Tourists above 250 pounds may be required to purchase a special seat as some weight restrictions may apply. As the climate and temperature of the tour will change, a combination of clothing is the best option. The wind can be cold; however the volcano is hot, so a removable jacket or sweater is recommended. Sunglasses and sunscreen should also be included and it is wise to book this tour early in your vacation because weather can lead to cancellation.

We depart from the commuter terminal at the Hilo Airport in Hilo, Hawaii. Flight times can be arranged when booking the tour. Come and fly with us on this 45 minute journey around the Big Island. The natural process of land being destroyed and recreated occurs here each day. All of this and much more beauty awaits your arrival!
